Food Allergies 101
According to FARE's website, "Food allergy is a serious and potentially life-threatening medical condition affecting up to 15 million Americans. One in every 13 children has a food allergy—that’s about 2 in every U.S. classroom. And every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room."
Food allergies can be complex and should always be taken seriously. Food allergy should be recognized as different from food intolerance.
Always have an allergy diagnosed by an appropriate medical practitioner. Some individuals may need to carry an Auto Epinephrine injector with them at all times. Parents, extended family members, teachers and friends should be proficient with administering the injector if needed.
